About Catch the Breeze

The Sykes family has been letting holiday properties since the 1970s. It’s fair to say; it’s in our blood. Our experience owning, managing and even cleaning holiday properties led to the family founding and running another successful national holiday home letting agency that still bears our family name.

Today, Catch the Breeze is about pulling on all that experience to offer something incredibly special. We understand the importance of holidays in the UK. And that it’s something that requires a lot of hard work to get just right. We know this because we’re no different. Every year the Sykes family look forward to staying in holiday cottages and the unique experience that each stay brings. We have a genuine understanding of what makes a holiday special, of what creates that all-important sense of belonging and satisfaction that makes you feel: I could live like this.

What our guests say

Beautiful Craster

Our stay at Middlerigg exceeded expectation. What a beautiful property with exceptional views across to Dunstanburgh Castle. Such a great place to base yourself for exploring the area. The property was cosy, comfortable and finished to a high standard. We couldn't be happier watching daily life in the harbour and the waves crashing against the rocks. We loved it so much we have booked to come back next year.

The most stunning property and location

This property is outstanding along with the location and grounds it sits in.

We are a large family catering for needs from an 88 year old to 6 month old baby and we did not want for anything.

The facilities were excellent with the added benefit of swimming pool and sauna.

The property was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, there was also ample parking.

Ben who met us at the property was great, he explained everything to us.

We would have no hesitation to book again and are actually planning for next year.

I would also suggest for Sunday Lunch to go to The George Inn which is about 5 miles away.

Another delightful stay

As usual everything was perfect. Stunning sunrises, a wonderful panorama of the sea and dolphins cruising past on cue, all viewed in exceptional comfort. Not to mention the walks to Low Newton for lunch at the Ship Inn, a trip to Ingram Valley and Linhope Spout as well as a circular walk on the Rothbury Terraces. A perfect location for visiting outstanding countryside in addition to the sea views. We will be back. Thank you Mr & Mrs Sykes of Catch The Breeze.

Fabulous property

This is a very lovely property with everything needed for a comfortable holiday. It is beautifully furnished with all mod cons. The position looking out towards the castle ruins in exceptional. We had a fabulous holiday and have already rebooked.

Family get together, (delayed) birthday celebrations, and big hills

It's hard to imagine a more perfect setting for a family gathering. We got everyone together for Granma Dawn's 80th (2 years late due to covid) and the first time her family had all been together for over 20 years. The first reaction from everyone was 'this place is amazing' and so it proved. The layout, decor, fixtures and fittings all contributed to the atmosphere of relaxation, celebration, and togetherness; the pool and sauna provided that little touch of luxury; while the setting in the Dales gave some of us exhilarating (and sometimes breathless) views from the saddles of our bikes. We will definitely be back.
