About Catch the Breeze

The Sykes family has been letting holiday properties since the 1970s. It’s fair to say; it’s in our blood. Our experience owning, managing and even cleaning holiday properties led to the family founding and running another successful national holiday home letting agency that still bears our family name.

Today, Catch the Breeze is about pulling on all that experience to offer something incredibly special. We understand the importance of holidays in the UK. And that it’s something that requires a lot of hard work to get just right. We know this because we’re no different. Every year the Sykes family look forward to staying in holiday cottages and the unique experience that each stay brings. We have a genuine understanding of what makes a holiday special, of what creates that all-important sense of belonging and satisfaction that makes you feel: I could live like this.

What our guests say

Fantastic house in a stunning location, on a dark night the sky is so big with no light pollution. The house was warm, immaculately clean with plentiful supply of kitchen utensils for cooking a celebration meal. Ben the house manager very helpful and keen to make our stay special He had the log burners roaring for our arrival which was a lovely touch. The swimming pool was a massive hit with the children. What a special house, can't wait to return.

Fantastic holiday with unbelievable weather

Our third trip to Middlerigg and it never fails to be utterly fabulous. We were blessed with very rare warm weather for the May half term and took full advantage with several trips to Beadnell Bay beach, Alnwick and Amble. We woke to the sound of waves coming ashore and the many species of seabird. It's an ideal venue for my wife, our daughter and me and our besties The Rolfes from Cambridge. The perfect way for Nic and Lyns to recover from a busy term working at their primary schools. Suffice to say, we're already booked in for next year.

Superb holiday cottage

We had a fabulous time at Craster Reach. The cottage itself is very well maintained. Loved the cosy fire fire, very generous and appreciated that all the logs & fuel was provided free of charge. The welcome hamper including treats for both us and the dog was great. Loved that the dog treats were healthy Lily's Kitchen and not cheap supermarket stuff! Thank you for putting up Christmas decorations and a tree. In the 5 years that we have taken a pre Christmas break you are the first cottage to have done that - thank you! Great location. It was very icy during our stay so we left the car on the drive and walked from the cottage every day. The Jolly Fisherman literally 30 seconds walk away is a lovely pub, one of the best traditional gastro pubs we've visited. It's worth staying in Craster just for this pub! Also the shoreline cafe is a great little place. Very friendly staff and another asset to this little coastal fishing village. Thank you guys, we hope to be back one day.

Easter 2024

Harbourway is definitely the best holiday house we have stayed in and we are regular visitors to Northumberland. Everything was so clean and comfortable. Craster is a great base to explore different locations. We had a great walk to the castle and onto Embleton. We will definitely be back.

Property beautifully presented. Well equipped plus a very generous welcome pack on arrival. Views stunning from upstairs. Spot on location for everything. Would love to return. Thank you.
