About Catch the Breeze
The Sykes family has been letting holiday properties since the 1970s. It’s fair to say; it’s in our blood. Our experience owning, managing and even cleaning holiday properties led to the family founding and running another successful national holiday home letting agency that still bears our family name.
Today, Catch the Breeze is about pulling on all that experience to offer something incredibly special. We understand the importance of holidays in the UK. And that it’s something that requires a lot of hard work to get just right. We know this because we’re no different. Every year the Sykes family look forward to staying in holiday cottages and the unique experience that each stay brings. We have a genuine understanding of what makes a holiday special, of what creates that all-important sense of belonging and satisfaction that makes you feel: I could live like this.
A wonderful stay in a special place. Beautiful and private but so handy for the beach and mountains. We had grandsons aged 8 and 10 and Nanny who is over 70 and we all had a fantastic time. We loved the Mawddach trail and the new precipice walk but had beach days, played gold and had a ride on a steam train. Would recommend Tan Llan to anyone wanting to visit a beautiful part of Snowdonia and have a luxurious place to stay
We have visited Oughtershaw Hall, at various times of the year, at least five times for weekends and for stays of a week. Why do we keep going back? Quite simply because the Hall ticks all of the boxes that our group of sixteen needs.
Eleven members of the family spent a week for some big birthdays in this lovely hall, where I stayed for 2 weeks in 1952. Memories of a very happy holiday many years ago were not disabused by a return visit, not just because it now has electricity and hot water! The hall is as magnificent as ever, but the big difference is that it has been extensively but tastefully modernised inside and most of the old features have been retrained. There are several large rooms and a massive well fitted kitchen. All eight bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. Four are ensuite and the bathrooms are large. The large terrace is excellent for eating outside with views down to the beck. The garden is long and slopes down to the beck, but croquet is playable if not up to Hurlingham standards. Its a great place for walks and wildlife. The heated indoor pool was much used by young and old. Ben, the house manager is very helpful in explaining everything. and helping with problems. It is simply a wonderful place and I really cannot fault it.
