About Catch the Breeze

The Sykes family has been letting holiday properties since the 1970s. It’s fair to say; it’s in our blood. Our experience owning, managing and even cleaning holiday properties led to the family founding and running another successful national holiday home letting agency that still bears our family name.

Today, Catch the Breeze is about pulling on all that experience to offer something incredibly special. We understand the importance of holidays in the UK. And that it’s something that requires a lot of hard work to get just right. We know this because we’re no different. Every year the Sykes family look forward to staying in holiday cottages and the unique experience that each stay brings. We have a genuine understanding of what makes a holiday special, of what creates that all-important sense of belonging and satisfaction that makes you feel: I could live like this.

What our guests say

Fabulous place.

We stayed at Oughtershaw Hall for a family get together for us, our children and our grandchildren...... age range 70 down to 4 year olds. The property was ideal as it catered for everyone, with huge gardens the children loved playing in, a little games room in the cellar (should the weather be inclement) with a football table, air hockey table and a child friendly dartboard, lovely indoor swimming pool and a sauna. With 3 separate living rooms as well as a huge kitchen there was enough room not to feel on top of each other. Had we stayed longer we would have explored some of the walks in the beautiful surrounding countryside. We would love to stay again but as our family is rapidly expanding we may sadly exceed their occupancy capacity soon. Highly recommended!!

Delivering The Wow Factor

Another wonderful multi family holiday at Tan Llan and The Coach House. Perfect for all ages of children and adults alike. The house and gardens are simply stunning and the river at the back of the property offers both moments of reflection and adventure. We took our paddle board and enjoyed many hours on the river. The accommodation is beautifully appointed and come rain or shine, you will be comfortable. We shared drinks on the terrace when the sun shone (however briefly!) and enjoyed a lovely cosy sit in front of the fire having arrived home after a long walk. Being able to take our dog made the holiday for all of us. He definitely lived his best life. High recommended.

Excellent.

The recommended pubs and restaurants were excellent. M&S shopping at Alnwick recommended. Bamburgh Castle museum very interesting.

Delightful cottage, lovely location, very well equipped

The cottage was very clean, warm and comfortable. We loved sitting around the table at the front looking out over the harbour. Kitchen was very well equipped and it was easy to cook simple meals on several nights. The beds were very comfortable and bathrooms spacious and clean. We enjoyed walks from the house, eating at the Cottage Inn nearby, tale away fish and chips just up the road (open Fri, Sat, Sun) and Craster kippers.

The owners provided a list of equipment and supplies before we arrived and suggestions for what we needed to bring which was very helpful.

Perfect!

Wow! Such an amazing location and lovely clean spacious property - we had the best time on our first visit to Northumberland - from the patio we watched the sky and sea turning to beautiful colours as the day / night closed - we watched pods of dolphins pass by and were soothed to sleep by the sound of the waves lapping - we all wished we had booked a longer stay!
