Tan Llan & The Coach House

Snowdonia National Park - Llanelltyd, Dolgellau

If you’re looking to get thoroughly lost in thought, then escape to Tan Llan. Lying on the edge of the small village of Llanelltyd, Tan Llan dissolves into the gently sloping hillside. This handsome, grey-stoned country house shelters within fifteen acres of landscaped grounds. A riot of daffodils in spring, fourteen varieties sing as proudly as the Welsh Male Voice Choir, statesmanlike trees whisper accompanied by the last giggles of a winterbourne stream and the River Mawddach as it laughs by.

The Reading Rooms

Yorkshire Dales National Park - Buckden, Skipton

***The Reading Rooms will be closing in December 2023 to undergo extensive renovations. The Reading Rooms is scheduled to re-open at the end of October 2024 transforming into 2 Bedroom with en-suite property with open plan kitchen/living/dining*** A genuine slice of Dales history is what's on offer here. As its name suggests, this sweet stone cottage was an important part of Oughtershaw's cultural life, and now makes a tranquil riverside retreat from which to explore the wider national park.

Yorkshire Dales National Park - Buckden, Skipton

The magnificent detached country estate of Oughtershaw Hall rests in splendid isolation within the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The property may date back to the 1600s, but don’t let this noble stone pile deceive you. Within its most Yorkshire of stone walls is more than the odd 21st-century surprise, non-more so than its own private heated swimming pool. This stylish holiday home by the sea, with uninterrupted views of the magnificent coastline, provides the perfect base to explore Northumberland. Or, to simply sit and look out to the North Sea continually repainting itself.

Middlerigg

Northumberland Coast - Craster, Alnwick

The motherly arms of Craster harbour’s two whinstone piers hold a protective embrace. The resulting small cove shelters from the wild North Sea. It has welcomed Craster’s fishermen and their cobles for generations. Ramshackle stacks of lobster pots mirror the ragged silhouette of tumbledown Dunstanbugh Castle in the distance. Plucky oystercatchers peep support for their industrious colleagues, frantically strutting and prodding in the mud. The orange of their elongated beaks a close match for Middlerigg’s pantile roof that sits in contrast above its dark grey stone walls. Proudly, the house looks down at the boats resting at jaunty angles below, each one decorated with ropes strewn with oversized colourful plastic baubles. If Craster is the harbour, then the harbour is Middlerigg.

Harbourway

Northumberland Coast - Craster, Alnwick

Situated at the end of a terrace of 19th century cottages in postcard-pretty Craster, close enough to the harbour wall to hear the squaw of herring gulls and the slap of the sea, Harbourway is a haven of seaside calm – and one of our larger Craster properties. Stoutly built from local whinstone, topped by slate, with double-fronted bay windows looking down onto the harbour, the cottage has been sensitively modernised while retaining true to its 19th century heritage.

Driftwood

Northumberland Coast - Craster, Alnwick

If you're searching for a classic Craster fisherman's cottage, you'll most certainly find it in Driftwood. The exterior is classic Craster: hand-shaped local stone , little windows and a slate-tiled roof, with a sweet front garden accessed via its own white picket gate. There’s also a decked seating area at the front where you can sit and enjoy the sun and watch the daily goings-on down in the harbour. Inside, Driftwood is packed with period charm – from the original fireplace to the cosy bedrooms, it makes the perfect cosy bolthole for your Northumberland adventures.

Craster Reach

Craster Reach is a tucked-away terrace cottage in Craster Northumberland, situated in the heart of the intimate fishing village which nestles on the invigorating Northumberland coast. Second stay at this superb location. Blessed by the best weather Northumberland has experienced in a long time. Just love the sound of the waves breaking on the rocky shore and the numbers sightings of dolphins during the week. What more can you want...idyllic!

We have just returned from the most brilliant stay in Middlerigg with our 3 children aged 10, 8 & 8. The property is beautiful appointed and the recently refurbished decor has been completed to a very high standard. The house also benefits from the best view in the village! We loved our stay here so much, as did our children so we've already booked again for next year.

Fun for all the family

Just returned from an amazing family weekend at Oughtershaw Hall for my mums surprise 70th. The perfect venue for our party of 16. The property was very grand with plenty of room for our party of various ages to all feel comfortable and enjoy the house and the impressive and well maintained grounds.

The house was lovely and clean, extremely well equipped and the pool and the sauna were the icing on the cake.

Ben met us on arrival, he was very helpful and was only a phone call away if needed.

The welcome hamper, flowers and champagne were a lovely touch. A fabulous weekend was had by all, lots of great memories made and we hope to return again in the future.
