What our guests say

A favourite holiday destination

We have stayed in Craster regularly over many years and at Rock Lobster more recently. Rock Lobster is located in a premier position overlooking the sea. The accommodation is outstanding in every respect and we would have no hesitation in recommending it as an excellent property in which to base a holiday in Northumberland.

Beautiful Craster

Our stay at Middlerigg exceeded expectation. What a beautiful property with exceptional views across to Dunstanburgh Castle. Such a great place to base yourself for exploring the area. The property was cosy, comfortable and finished to a high standard. We couldn't be happier watching daily life in the harbour and the waves crashing against the rocks. We loved it so much we have booked to come back next year.

Perfect stay in a perfect location.

This was our second stay with friends at Middlerigg, following a similar visit last year. We were fortunate with the beautiful weather, but the highlight was (again!) just being able to relax on the terrace overlooking Craster Harbour, watching the boats go to and fro, the early morning walkers watch their dogs play in the sea before everybody else has woken up, the children and the adventure trips splash around in the water during the day, the waders and waterfowl pick between the pebbles, and then the slow calming down of life as dusk approached and darkness fell. Beyond the harbour, the long views to Dunstanburgh Castle shimmered in the distance, and each morning and evening we were treated to dolphins swimming one way along the coast and then returning the other way. Every day the view was different, and every day it was stunning. The cherry on the cake was the local pub next door, with great food, beer and sea views to match. Sounds almost too good to be true? It really is like that! The property itself is beautifully appointed and maintained, with everything you could wish for, including excellent kitchen, bathrooms, and bedrooms with wonderfully comfortable and fresh linen, and even a BBQ. Great to see the property is heated by an air source heat pump too. To sum up - just wonderful!

Great Holiday

We enjoyed our family time together at the lovely Oughtershaw Hall. There was always plenty to do, from water volleyball in the stunning pool, walking round the gardens, playing games in the cellar, sitting by the fire chatting, barbecuing, playing board games, sweating it out in the sauna, watching the wild life in the garden, playing football, gathering round for family meals and a wonderful place to have a treasure hunt! The facilities were super, luxuriously warm everything so well stocked. We enjoyed some scenic walks (one in the rain and some in the dry) and it was always lovely to return to the welcoming Hall with only the sheep to disturb if we were laughing too loudly! Ben was very helpful, respectful and unobtrusive. We have all come home with some marvellous family memories.

Stunning!

Our stay in Middlerigg was splendid. Stunning position and magnificently refurbished and very well equipped.
