About Catch the Breeze

The Sykes family has been letting holiday properties since the 1970s. It’s fair to say; it’s in our blood. Our experience owning, managing and even cleaning holiday properties led to the family founding and running another successful national holiday home letting agency that still bears our family name.

Today, Catch the Breeze is about pulling on all that experience to offer something incredibly special. We understand the importance of holidays in the UK. And that it’s something that requires a lot of hard work to get just right. We know this because we’re no different. Every year the Sykes family look forward to staying in holiday cottages and the unique experience that each stay brings. We have a genuine understanding of what makes a holiday special, of what creates that all-important sense of belonging and satisfaction that makes you feel: I could live like this.

A lovely New Year in Northumberland

Our second stay at Craster Reach. The house was very clean and has everything you could need. A perfect location to explore the area. A lovely New Year finished off with snow!

This property is simply spectacular!

We had the most fabulous week of family reunion with family members coming from various parts of the world to celebrate a special birthday and for us all this was our first visit to Wales. The fabulous rooms were complemented by an equally fabulous set of surroundings in the form of extensive garden grounds equal to any stately home in the UK. Our dog was in heaven with the river being within a short walk away. The kitchen/dining room is equipped to fully professional standard and having a garden room/conservatory for us all to assemble in at the end of a busy day visiting local sites was really welcome. We were blessed with sufficiently good weather to be able to dine outside on several occasions including the use of an excellent barbecue on the property. As holiday property owners ourselves, "Tan Llan" more than exceeded anyone's expectations and passed our critical view with ease. We simply cannot recommend this property highly enough and would readily return when the occasion arises. It is beautifully situated for visits to the fabulous countryside and monuments and the beaches at Barmouth are exceptional. We really were impressed and thanks to "Tan Plan" our American visitors will certainly return home with unforgettably favourable memories of Wales, as will we.

Wonderful stay at Harbourway

We had a fantastic family stay at Harbourway (a return trip for some of us). The location is great, beautiful walks right on your doorstep. Lovely sea views from the living areas and garden. The house itself was very clean and well appointed, everything you could possibly need was there. Rooms very comfortable. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful cottage in the Dales

Fabulous stay in this wonderful cottage. So comfortable, good quality linen and towels , plenty of hot water and the most comprehensively equipped kitchen I have encountered in a holiday rental for years.

The house was immaculately clean , with a good supply of logs for the wood burner.

Situated in a very quiet part of the Dales, with walking straight from the door, we couldn’t have asked for more and highly recommend.

Stunning home in the heart of Craster

Wow what a beautiful property. One of the best we have stayed in a fantastic position in Craster. Stayed as a group of friends and the 4 en suite bedrooms served our set up perfectly. Maintained and presented to a very high standard we all decided we could absolutely live there. Bus stop outside. Gorgeous walks on the beach to dunstanburgh castle, low newton, Bamburgh and Boulder along the coastal path in the other direction. We would not hesitate to recommend. We booked again for next year on the day we came home and are trying out another of the properties in the catch the breeze group.
