What our guests say

Beautiful cottage, great location

We loved our stay in this beautiful cottage. Perfectly situated to explore the beautiful Northumberland coastline. The cottage is very comfortable, fully equipped and furnished to a very high standard.

Excellent (again)

I'm lucky enough to have enjoyed several stays at Oughtershaw and it never falls anywhere short of brilliant. The new riverside walk is a fantastic addition to the estate and was enjoyed by all members of our family from George (1) to Great-Granma (84). We had birthday and retirement celebrations, a murder mystery evening, and lots of time just enjoying the house, the facilities and the surrounding countryside. The walk down to Langstrothdale to 'Helen's House' has to be one of our favourite things to do in the whole world and this year I even made it up the ramp at the end of the return leg in one go. We love it here and hope to be back again very soon.

A Truly Wonderful Stay at The Reading Rooms - We'll be back!

We had the most fantastic stay at The Reading Rooms in this peaceful and picturesque spot in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. We enjoyed walks right from our doorstep and ventured out to The Wensleydale Creamery and Hardraw Force enjoying a superb pub lunch at The Green Dragon Inn.

The cottage itself felt like a real home from home - such a perfect place to unwind and relax! It is beautifully equipped with everything you could possibly need - we even managed to do some baking during our stay! We loved the TV/snug room which gave the children their own space to hang out.

The bedrooms were incredibly comfortable, with fresh high-quality linens. We all slept so well here! Outside the garden is simply lovely - it borders a charming beck and is a glorious peaceful space to sit. We were lucky with the weather so managed to enjoy some outdoor dining and we loved sitting outside with our morning coffee. It is clear that a lot of care has gone into making this a truly special place to stay and we can't wait to come back!

The incredible views make this tucked away holiday home 5 stars!

Craster Reach is uniquely positioned to enjoy stunning views of Dunstanburgh Castle and, in the opposite direction, the coastline towards Longhouton Beach. the house was perfectly comfortable for five adults (the beds were top-notch!) and we enjoyed breakfast in the sunshine on the pretty terrace. The kitchen was really well stocked for self-catering although we enjoyed a couple of good meals at The Jolly Fisherman.

We had a wonderful week exploring the beautiful places in Northumberland but were always happy to return to our cosy home in pretty Craster.
