Meet Dawn, Our Property Management Assistant in Craster

We know that for a truly wonderful staycation, it is always useful to have a friendly face on hand to help with any queries you may have. If you are staying at one of our gorgeous Craster properties soon, expect to see a new friendly face who will work her magic to make your trip the best yet – meet Dawn, our new Property Management Assistant based in Northumberland!

Accompanying Dawn in her day-to-day life are her two pugs (both with fantastic names); Woody and “naughty Kevin”. As well as her pugs, Dawn has another wonderful addition to the family as she has recently received the exciting news that she has become a grandmother.

Dawn joined the Catch the Breeze Retreats team in January of this year, bringing a wealth of experience with an incredible forty years in the hospitality sector. Over that time, Dawn has perfectly curated her practicality and can-do attitude and felt that her experience in customer service would be of great use to Catch the Breeze Retreats (and she was not wrong!)

Dawn’s eclectic role can look different every day, but her main responsibilities include checking that everything is in order in our Northumberland properties before our guests arrive and ensuring the high standards are maintained all year round.

Once Dawn knows the property is ready for the guest’s arrival, she helps them get settled in and ensures she is on hand for any questions they may have, whether it is a restaurant recommendation or how to use the internet – two very important factors when on holiday!

Dawn explains that despite the guest welcome book being a great way to have on-hand knowledge of the property and equipment, “it is lovely to meet the guests when they arrive and put a face to the name, and it’s great to get their feedback on what plans they have whilst they’re here on holiday.”

As well as assisting the guests, the beautiful properties and the Northumberland landscape is what Dawn truly loves about her role at Catch the Breeze Retreats. Being able to work with such high-quality properties and appreciating the finer attention to detail such as the gorgeous finishes is something Dawn certainly does not take for granted: “who wouldn’t love this job!”

We are delighted that Dawn has a true love and passion for Craster as much as we do, as she explains, “Craster and Northumberland overall is one of the most beautiful places in the country. You have the sea on one side and beautiful green land on the other, so you get the best of both worlds.” Recognising that each Craster property has its very own personality, Dawn has a keen appreciation of what makes each of our properties truly unique and tells us what she loves about each one:

Middlerigg

Middlerigg terrace overlooking Craster Harbour

What an amazing property in the heart of Craster! Overlooking the harbour, the views from Middlerigg are unreal; whether it’s rain or shine, there’s never a need for the TV in this house. Accompanied by a fabulously large kitchen and dining room with a snug mezzanine, it’s the perfect place for friends and family to gather.

Driftwood

Although Driftwood is one of the smaller properties, it certainly has lots of character and is super cosy. After a long day of exploring the Craster coast, it’s the best place to retreat to or just sit outside and take in the spectacular sea view.

Harbourway

A double-fronted house, Harbourway is absolutely perfect for a family gathering of any occasion. With lots of different areas to sit in, I love this large house that has a very fine feel to it and the comfiest of beds. The stylish kitchen provides all you need to cook a delicious meal.

Craster Reach

I absolutely love the location of this property. Just a stone’s throw from The Jolly Fisherman and the Kipper Smokehouse. Craster Reach boasts ample living space set over three floors; the magnificent views of Craster Harbour and Dunstanburgh Castle from the top floor bedroom are the cherry on top!

Rock Lobster

This is a truly impressive house, with possibly the best location in all of Craster. No matter the weather, the eclectic nature of the Northumberland Sea makes it a joy to watch from the comfort of Rock Lobster. On a stormy day, the views are truly magnificent where you can watch the sea crash against the rocks. Equally, on a sunny day, you can follow the sea all around as far as the eye can see, and on the perfect day, you’ll even spot some local dolphins pass by right in front of you. If you want to truly embrace life by the coast, this really is the nearest you’ll get to heaven.

If you are looking for somewhere to eat in Northumberland, whether it is seafood, Sunday lunch, or afternoon tea, Dawn has plenty of recommendations of “quality restaurants, just a stone’s throw away.” Kitting us out for a full day of eating for any occasion, Dawn firstly recommends breakfast at The Rocking Horse Café, “as it is a joy, especially if you have a four-legged companion with you!”

The Tree House at Alnwick Garden is perfect for a celebration and The Fish Shack in Amble is the place to go for seafood lovers. For a roast dinner, The Lord Crewe in Bamburgh do a great Sunday lunch and The Running Fox in Longhoughton does the most gorgeous afternoon tea.” The array of delicious Craster eateries in a nutshell; we could not have put it better ourselves!

After you have tried all the delicacies that Craster has to offer, you might fancy a walk to embrace the fresh sea air. Dawn adds, “If you enjoy walking, you can walk right along the coast, passing some of our magnificent castles. Or spend a day exploring the neighbouring towns and villages. Whatever you fancy, we’ve got it covered.”

Dawn’s love for property and location is an absolute dream for us at Catch the Breeze Retreats. We are thrilled to have her on the ground in Craster with her knowledge, expertise and overall passion for Northumberland that will be sure to rub off on our guests!
